How to insert your Google Adsense (or other ad block) code
Step 1: Log in to your admin panel and click on the "Templates" tab. Next, click on the ad template you'd like to customize. In this example we'll edit the "header_links1" template. To see where the templates such as "header_links1" are located on the front-end of your website, see the illustration at the end of this article.
Step 2: In the edit template page you should see a Google Adsense code block. The code block is already configured with the exact settings necessary for your website except for your Adsense client ID and an optional Ad Channel number. These two lines will be filled in with "xxxxxxxxx."
Step 3: Open a new window and log in to your Google Adsense account. Follow the basics steps that you normally would to create a google ad for any other page.
- Click "Adsense Setup"
- Click "Adsense for Content"
- Because the ad code has already been configured for you on MyPlayer, the settings on the next few pages are irrelevant. Just click continue until you reach the end of the wizard that gives you your Adsense code.
- Copy your Adsense client ID number from the "google_ad_client" line as illustrated below. Optionally, you can also copy the number located on the "google_ad_channel" line if you are using Ad Channels. In this example we are not using an Ad Channel so the line is blank.
Step 4: Replace "pub-xxxxxxxxx" with your Adsense client ID and replace "xxxxxxxxx" with your Ad channel number that you copied in the last step. If you do not have an Ad Channel number simply delete the x's as illustrated below. Finally, click the "Update" button to save your Adsense Code. Your new ads will begin displaying immediately.
Note for advanced users: While the MyPlayer platform was designed for Google Adsense, you can use any advertising platform of your choice. Simply replace the Google Adsense code blocks in the templates with your own advertising code. For the best results, be sure to make note of the ad dimensions and colors listed in the Google Adsense code block so that your new ads will match the look and feel of your site.
